Aged Care HQ is an independent publisher. We are building a directory of Australian aged care providers, and we are doing it differently from the comparison sites currently in this market.
The problem we are trying to fix
When a family starts looking for aged care, most of what they find is one of three things: government pages that are accurate but written for people who already know the vocabulary, provider websites that are accurate about their own services and silent about everyone else's, or comparison sites that are funded by the providers they list.
That last category is worth understanding. A number of "compare aged care" services in Australia are paid a fee by providers when a family they refer becomes a client. Some disclose this plainly. Others say only that the service is free for families, which is true, and leave the rest to be inferred. Either way, the shortlist you are shown is drawn from providers who have a commercial arrangement with the site, and it is reasonable to ask which ones.
What we are building
A directory where the listing is free, the ranking is not for sale, and the information is sourced rather than supplied by marketing departments.
- Free to list. Every registered provider gets a profile at no cost, and we have no plans to change that. If it ever does change we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
- No paid placement. You cannot buy a higher position in results. We do not sell placement or ranking and we have no plans to. If our model ever changes we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
- No selling enquiries. We do not take a fee for passing a family's details to you, which means we have no reason to push them toward anyone in particular.
- Sourced data. Service information, accreditation status and published fee information traced back to primary sources, with the date it was checked.
Why a provider would want to be listed
Families increasingly start with a search engine, and increasingly get an answer from an AI assistant rather than a list of blue links. Both reward structured, verifiable, well sourced information about your service. A thin listing on a site that families do not trust does not help you. An accurate, current, independently published profile does.
Being listed also means the information about you is correct. Most aged care listings floating around the internet are scraped, stale, or both.
Where this is up to, honestly
The guides are live now. The directory is in development and not yet accepting listings. We are not going to pretend otherwise, publish a fake listing count, or run a countdown timer.
